During the October show, LPW x CWS 8, the Clandestine Wrestling Society introduced the Champion of Salvation title. After a grueling six-person one-night tournament, The Rhinestone Cowboy Steven Crowe and Taryn From Accounting advanced to the finale at LPW x CWS 9. Considering the main event for this card was set in stone for a month, a handful of matches occurred before the first-ever Champion of Salvation took their rightful spot on the throne. In case you missed the latest show, here’s a recap of another entertaining night of professional wrestling at the Rec Room in South Edmonton.
Jared Rogers Continues To Outsmart Se7en With Pinfall Victory Over Marz the Specialist
In the night’s opening match, Jared Rogers, who picked up a shocking victory over LPW Scamble Champion Jack Pride last month, took his chances against a fellow faction member, Marz the Specialist. It was an evenly contested fight before Marz took control early, executing an aggressive assault on Rogers. Meanwhile, Pride taunted Rogers’ parents at ringside, and Se7en’s manager, Thaddeus Archer the Third, bugged the commentary team.
After finding his moment to strike, Rogers flipped the momentum, leading to a dropkick to the outside, with Marz landing two rows into the crowd. Of course, anytime Rogers had the upper hand, Pride got involved, using the ropes to choke out his partner’s opponent on several occasions. However, when it was one-on-one, the two competitors traded maneuvers and near pinfalls before the finish unraveled for the Se7en with a major miscommunication.
As Marz attempted to whip Rogers into Pride (who was standing on the apron), Rogers reversed it, leading to Marz taking the bump. While dazed, Rogers executed a roll-up pin for the win, much to the chagrin of Pride, who was furious.
Zoë Sager Cuts Promo About Not Losing the LPW Grand Championship
Before the first-ever blindfold match, a stipulation voted by fans, former LPW Grand Champion Zoë Sager came out to the ring early to cut a passionate promo about not losing the title at LPW 20: Planet Slammet, Janet. Despite sharing her side of the story, in which she condemned all the cheating while the referee was knocked out, the fans taunted her words. Although she promised to regain her spot at the top of the card, she appeared more focused on past events than her upcoming blindfold match, which extended her losing streak to two.
TY Jackson Makes History With Victory in First-Ever Blindfold Match
Before the LPW x CWS 9 event, fans could vote for the stipulation in a main event level match between TY Jackson and Sager. Interestingly, fans opted to see the two superstars go head-to-head with blindfolds on. Hilariously, it took several minutes for the action to pick up as Sager and Jackson clung to the ropes in opposite corners and circled the ring several times before finally bumping into one another and exchanging punches.
Naturally, once they lost contact with one another, they drifted apart, which led to Jackson almost throwing punches at the Christmas Tree on the stage since he followed the fans’ directions to the area. Although Sager was on the stage at one point, she crawled back into the ring, and with the referee’s back turned, she lifted her blindfold to gain the upper hand in the contest. However, Jackson got the last laugh when the pair re-engaged, and he secured an inside cradle for the pin.
Wolfboy Will Manthla Continues Quest For First LPW Win, Falls to Reid Matthews
Since debuting in the LPW this year, Wolfboy Will Manthla is still searching for his first promotion win, attempting to collect that exclusive victory over “The Thickness” Reid Matthews. Unfortunately, in another match where size played a significant factor, Matthews was able to pick up his third straight win.
After a slow start with Matthews controlling all the offense, Manthla found an opportunity and didn’t disappoint with his arsenal of moves. Even though it took several clothesline attempts, Matthews eventually got knocked off his feet. While running with the momentum on his side, Manthla connected with a neck breaker, then a 619, and finished the sequence with a drop kick. However, Matthews kicked out at two and three-quarters before executing a Blue Thunder Bomb to pick up the one, two, three.
Steven Crowe Becomes First Ever Champion of Salvation
The Rhinestone Cowboy Steven Crowe and Taryn From Accounting, also known as Ride and Die, are a tag team that recently had a shot at the LPW Tag Team Championships. Additionally, the two superstars are pillars of Clandestine Wrestling and appear to be best friends, making their battle for the Champion of Salvation even more special.
Instead of engaging at the sound of the bell, the two opted to have a dance-off, with Crowe teaching Taryn how to two-step before meeting in the middle for more dance moves. Eventually, Taryn tried a quick pin maneuver, with Crowe countering with one of his own. After avoiding the fight for the first few minutes, the two took the gloves off for an entertaining main event with countless nearfalls.
At one point, Taryn nailed Crowe with a drop, with the latter screaming in agony, with an apparent face injury. Although there was no stoppage, Crowe came to life and begged his opponent to give him her best shot. Then, with momentum on his side, Crowe attempted three times to execute a backbreaker when Taryn rolled the pair outside the ring in one of the most awkward landings you could imagine. However, they immediately emerged on their feet with a table from under the ring.
Hilariously, the two argued over whose table it was and agreed to fight it out to see who got to put the other through it. Even though no one came close to being smashed through the table, the two competitors continued to trade assaults and near falls before Crowe climbed to the top rope, hoping to end the match finally. However, Taryn met him at the top, and the two embraced as they came crashing through the table, which broke in half. As the two warriors lie amongst the splitters, Crowe rolled over and dropped his arm on Taryn for the pin and championship victory.

After LPW x CWS 9, there is only one show left on the calendar for 2023: LPW 21: The Chain Wrestling on Friday, November 24, at the Rec Room in South Edmonton Common.
