Bringing the Violence to Vancouver! ⎸ Love Wrestling Interviews Tara Zep

by Spencer Love January 21, 2025
written by Spencer Love

Death match wrestling comes to Vancouver this February with the launch of No Fate Pro Wrestling. The promotion debuts on February 23rd at the Pearl Theatre, and we had the chance to chat with one of the founders of No Fate, “The Villain” Tara Zep. Don’t miss out on our wide-ranging conversation, as Zep chats with Spencer Love about No Fate’s impending debut, relationship with Mick Foley, work with John Wayne Murdoch, upcoming debut on the Jericho Cruise, and more!

QUOTES
Earning Mick Foley’s endorsement:

“I met him at a GCW – it was a big deathmatch show. It could have been T.O.S. I think it was Tournament of Survival, [and] I was there being a mark. I had a friend who was working with him, doing some of his P.R stuff. He was videoing his meet-and-greet. I finally got the chance to meet him in person through my friend. We chatted for a little bit, and I told him – I actually hadn’t even started training at that point, but I told him that I was gonna. I’m like ‘I’m gonna be a deathmatch wrestler!’ I partially meant it, and I partially didn’t know if that would even happen. I was kind of like ‘this is what I’m going to do,’ and he was kind of like ‘Okay, lady!’ A little time went by, and then my friend, Kacey Hopkins, who was the one who introduced us, they were together somewhere, and they were FaceTiming me. I was like ‘Ahhh! Oh my god, I’m talking to Mick Foley!’”

“Then, Mick was kind of like ‘I want to talk to you about some stuff’ and I was like ‘Oh, okay, cool!’ We started texting, and he was kind of interviewing me in a sense, it felt like. He was like ‘What’s your interest in deathmatch wrestling? Why do you want to do it, I don’t understand.’ I think he went into a mode there where he was like ‘I don’t want to really support and endorse this style of wrestling. He didn’t want people to get hurt. Deathmatch had evolved so much where people were doing crazy, crazy, crazy spots and getting badly hurt. I don’t think he wanted to be attached to that too much to that, which makes sense. Looking out for workers.”

Debuting on the Jericho Cruise

“I got a little invite last minute to wrestle on the Chris Jericho AEW Cruise. I don’t honestly know how that happened: I have a lot of older friends. Like, Sabu and RVD, and Chris Jericho are my boys. I don’t know why, but I feel like they maybe see more in me than a lot of the younger promoters. They’re really supportive of me, and they constantly are putting me over, and I’m kind of [mind blown]. Woah! Legends!”

“I don’t know what happened there, but I think Chris Jericho found me through Sabu, and he said some nice things, and he’s like ‘Hey, I have a couple spaces open left on this cruise. Do you want to do it?’ And, I was like ‘uhh, yes. Duh?’ I’m doing it. There wasn’t really a lot of conversation going into it, honestly. It was just kind of like, I don’t know, people have been talking and found out about me and liked my shit, I guess!”

Tara Zep Announced for 2025 Jericho Cruise

by Spencer Love January 21, 2025
written by Spencer Love

VANCOUVER, BC: The Villain is set to hit the high seas.

Lions Gate Dojo trainee Tara Zep has officially been announced for the upcoming Jericho Cruise. The Cruise, now in its sixth year, takes place from January 31st to February 4th.

Zep revealed the news to Love Wrestling earlier this week as part of an exclusive interview.

“I got a little invite last minute to wrestle on the Chris Jericho AEW Cruise,” the Villain stated. “I don’t honestly know how that happened: I have a lot of older friends.

Duh?’ I’m doing it.”

“There wasn’t really a lot of conversation going into it, honestly,” Zep concluded. “It was just kind of like, I don’t know, people have been talking and found out about me and liked my shit, I guess!”

Elsewhere, Zep discussed her relationship with Mick Foley, and how the hardcore legend came to be a part of Zep’s first-ever deathmatch.

“This is Who I Want to Be” ⎸ Charli Evans on Meiko Satomura

by Spencer Love January 17, 2025
written by Spencer Love

Charli Evans has been one of the world’s most travelled wrestlers for the past decade. Evans has always been vocal about her love of Japan, recently listing a return to the country with Medusa Complex compatriot Millie McKenzie on her list of goals for 2025. The two were a part of the Sendai Girls promotion early in their respective careers, and as Evans details in a recent chat with Love Wrestling, a large part of that was due to wrestling legend and Sendai Girls promoter Meiko Satomura’s influence.

Evans recently joined Love Wrestling to discuss her work with Sendai Girls, and Satomura’s impact on her career trajectory.

“I met Meiko when I first moved to Japan,” stated Evans. “She came and did a King of Trios that was actually in the UK. [So], when I first moved to England, sorry. She was the one that invited me out to Sendai Girls.”

“Japan was always a massive goal for me,” Evans continued. “To have Meiko Satomura be like ‘Oh, would you like to….’ ‘Uhh, yes. I would. I would love that.’ She was so good to Millie [McKenzie] and I when we first went to Sendai, and gave us all these opportunities.

“I really credit her so much, because I feel around that time, the 2019 time, was when I kind of was starting to figure it out, and be like ‘okay, this is who I want to be as a wrestler.’ I attribute a lot of that to Sendai girls and Meiko.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Evans chatted about working with the aforementioned Millie McKenzie in Medusa Complex, and her goals for the team in 2025.

CHEVS Worldwide! ⎸ Love Wrestling Interviews Charli Evans

by Spencer Love January 17, 2025
written by Spencer Love

A brand-new year brings new opportunities, and Australian wrestling star Charli Evans is looking to make the most of them. She joins Spencer Love of Love Wrestling for an exclusive interview, with her eyes set on the PWA Heavyweight’s Championship, Japan, and bringing Medusa Complex worldwide.

QUOTES
Madison Eagles’ impact on Australian wrestling:

“She is – like, when I say the G.O.A.T, I mean, the G.O.A.T. Without her, there would be no scene. She was the first one to go and stay in America for an extended period of time, and opened the door to SHIMMER for all of us. She is the best wrestler that I’ve ever been in the ring with, and ever watched. At training, we get to learn from her, and just the way she explains things, and does things, I’m just like ‘we are so fucking lucky that she wants to be a part of [this]’. She has never got the flowers that she deserved. If she started 5, 10 years later, she’d be main-eventing WrestleMania. She was just at this time where she had to deal with so much shit, and she pushed through all of that. The culture that she’s cultivated at PWA, especially with equality and training exactly the same as everyone else, I think it’s fucking incredible. I can’t say enough good things about her.”

How Meiko Satomura changed her career:

“I met Meiko when I first moved to Japan. She came and did a King of Trios that was actually in the UK. [So], when I first moved to England, sorry. She was the one that invited me out to Sendai Girls. Japan was always a massive goal for me. To have Meiko Satomura be like ‘oh, would you like to….’ ‘Uhh, yes. I would. I would love that.’ She was so good to Millie and I when we first went to Sendai, and gave us all these opportunities. I really credit her so much, because I feel around that time, the 2019 time, was when I kind of was starting to figure it out, and be like ‘okay, this is who I want to be as a wrestler.’ I attribute a lot of that to Sendai girls and Meiko.”
