EXCLUSIVE: Meniac Retires From In-Ring Competition

by Spencer Love

EDMONTON, AB: One of Alberta’s most entertaining professional wrestlers is calling it a career.

We can officially report thatĀ Meniac, a former Monster Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, has officially retired from in-ring competition, bringing a close to one of the more unique careers in the Albertan independent scene.

“The past 6 years have been a blast!” commented Meniac in a statement to the WCSN. “Being able to travel all over Western Canada entertaining people will be something I always remember. I wanted to thank all the wrestlers, referees and promoters Iā€™ve met and worked with along the way. Yes, EVEN THE PROMOTERS. Through all the championships, gimmick matches & stipulations, the one thing that sticks out is the bonds that were formed fighting side by side in the squared circle.”

Few Albertan independent wrestlers have captured the hearts of fans quite like Meniac. Since making his in-ring debut in 2013, Meniac has been recognized as one of the most entertaining athletes in Albertan pro wrestling. In a world plagued by far too many oh-so-serious wrestlers, Meniac truly encapsulated the phrase of “sports entertainment,” equally capable of delighting fans with his in-ring skill and his ability to simply entertain an audience. Simply put, Meniac was one of the most fun wrestlers in Alberta.

However, as entertaining as he may be, there’s truly no discounting Meniac’s in-ring abilities. The former tagSTRUGGLE star earned a number of accolades across the province, with two reigns as Monster Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion representing the apex of his career. Additionally, Meniac was a two-time MPW Tag Team Champion, a GDW Tag Team Champion, and was the winner of MPW’s first-ever Blitzkrieg match. As it stands, Meniac’s final match took place last June as part of a fatal four-way for the RCW Tag Team Championships.

Join the WCSN in wishing Meniac a happy retirement.

I always felt that being in a tag team or stable was where I thrived best, so special shout out to all the members of ā€œFamily Julesā€, ā€œoWeā€ and of course; ā€œtagSTRUGGL3ā€. Being with you out there made it all that much more fun. I would be remised without mentioning some individuals that helped shape my 6 year run. People like MIchael Richard Blais; who taught me my first bumps in the business, Frenetico; who pushed me to keep going after a broken elbow held me out for a few weeks. Irish; who trained me at MPW and also had some of my favourite matches with me, both singles and tag. Krazy Kore; who was also in some of my favourite matches and part of one of my favourite teams to tag against. Rick Jules & Kato; our trips to Kelowna and walking around with truck nuts around our necks always got fantastic reactions. Perish & Shaun Martens; tagSTRUGGLE (THREE!) was the most fun I had in the business. Pride; you made the transition possible and always made the shows fun to be at (especially when you left boot prints on my chest). To Jude, Larry, Mitch, Rich, TY, Chimera, Maverick, Stone, Ref Ben, & KJ; you guys were always a blast to hang out with backstage, keep fighting the good fight. To Mike the Ref & Spencer; thanks forĀ  the brutal honesty after matches and giving me a platform to push my bullshit opinions on those 14 people in St Petersburg Russia loved to listen to. To anyone I missed, know that you probably had some part in shaping my career and missing you on the list was nothing personal (or maybe it was and you were a Massive Shitstick who doesnā€™t deserve to even be in the business. Youā€™re guess is as good as mine ?).

As I depart into fatherhood I thank you all once again and weā€™ll see you all down the road (where Iā€™ll be affectionately referred to as Big Daddy).

Lovingly yours;

Meniac
