“This is what she deserves” ⎸ Jessica Troy on ZARIA and NXT

by Spencer Love December 24, 2024
written by Spencer Love

Jessia Troy has taken on all comers through her nearly 10 years in professional wrestling, but recently, she faced off with one of her greatest rivals for perhaps the final time.

On June 14th, 2024, DELTA – now known to NXT fans as ZARIA – challenged Troy for her PWA Heavyweight Championship. The bout marked ZARIA’s final match for the PWA, as well as one of her last matches in Australia as an independent wrestler.

In a recent interview with Love Wrestling, Troy discussed her fellow Australian signing with NXT and their final tilt in their home country.

“It was really special for me to have one of her last matches in Australia,” commented the PWA Champion. “We’ve wrestled a lot over here, as well. We had one match in Sydney, but we’ve wrestled quite a bit down in Melbourne as well. We got pretty close, and I think in the ring we work really, really well together.”

“I swear, it was a week after she moved to America they were releasing hype video packages and I’m like ‘oh, she’s good. She’s sorted. This is what she deserves,’” Troy laughed. “She’s a superstar. This makes sense to me.’ It’s just cool to see her get what is deserved, really.”

“She just looks fantastic, and she is fantastic in the ring and outside as well. It’s just cool to see.”

What’s the Deal with a Shoey?! ⎸ Love Wrestling Interviews Jessica Troy

by Spencer Love December 23, 2024
written by Spencer Love

She is the PWA Heavyweight Champion, the winner of the 2024 Coliseum Tournament, and the Arm Collector: Jessica Troy is here! The PWA World’s Heavyweight Champion joins Spencer Love for an exclusive interview to discuss her upcoming battle with Charli Evans and North Shore Wrestling, Australian Mount Rushmore, shoeys, Grayson Waller, and more!

QUOTES
The rise of Australian wrestling (02:03)

“For me, it’s a bit of a combination of things, I’d say. We’re just really lucky, and fortunate, that we have coaches and trainers that have traveled the world, and we have world-class training here. So, even at PWA, our training school, we have people like Madison Eagles, Robbie Eagles, Mick Morettii. I’m a coach there now, and I’ve traveled to the States and have been all over training and whatnot.”

“We just have amazing coaches, that have traveled for years and years – like, decades – and they’re just handing down knowledge from America, Japan, the UK, everywhere that they’ve been to. The Australian wrestling scene is very much a strange mix of Japanese Strong Style, maybe there’s some American indie kind of style in here. People have been to Canada and brought back what they’ve learned back there. It’s a really cool mix of worldly wrestling. I think any audience would like it, because there’s a little bit for everyone.”

Australian Mount Rushmore (11:34)

“Oooh, that’s so hard. That’s four wrestlers, right? My all-time top, the greats? I know Robbie Eagles would have to be on there. He just has to be. Robbie Eagles has to be. I think Tenille Dashwood has to be on there as well. She was one of the first to get signed, and she just did an amazing job. Ricky South has to be on there. Fantastic worker, fantastic wrestler. Can do anything, deserves the world. The fourth one is going to have to be me! Is that allowed? Me and Charli Evans, we’ll share, otherwise, she’ll get jealous.”

Gigi Rey, Ladybird Monroe Capture R.O.W Women’s Tag Team Championships

Saturday night, the Moneybirds (Gigi Rey and Ladybird Monroe) defeated the team of Sheeva and Jael to capture the Reality of Wrestling Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Rey is a former ROW Diamonds Champion and PWA Women’s Champion. Originally trained under Michael Richard Blais, Rey began training at Reality of Wrestling in 2021. Reid Matthews Makes Pro Wrestling Ontario Debut

Last weekend saw “The Thickness” Reid Matthews make his debut with Pro Wrestling Ontario. Matthews, the current CWS Champion of Salvation, faced off with Alec Realm.

This marks Matthews’ second appearance in Ontario, following his debut with Destiny Wrestling earlier this year. Matthews, alongside his tag team partner Zoë Sager, is currently scheduled to face Ride or Die for the LPW Tag Team Championships in January.

Zoë Sager Makes Femme Fatales Debut

Speaking of Sager, “The Intangible” debuted with Quebec-based Femmes Fatales last Saturday as part of a four-way matchup. Sager challenged Dani Leo, Midianne, and current Femmes Fatales Champion Azaelle for the title. On top of challenging for the LPW Tag Team titles in January, Sager has also been announced for LPW’s return to Rogers Place, facing off in singles action against Taryn From Accounting

Victoria’s Chelsea Green Wins Women’s United States Title

by Spencer Love December 14, 2024
written by Spencer Love

It’s only appropriate that a Canadian becomes the first-ever U.S. Champion.

Tonight, Victoria’s own Chelsea Green captured the WWE Women’s United States Championship, becoming the inaugural titleholder in company history.

Green defeated Michin (fka Mia Yim) for the championship at tonight’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match was the conclusion of Smackdown’s recent United States title tournament. The first matchup saw the Hot Mess win a triple-threat matchup against B-Fab and Blair Davenport. Last week, Green defeated Bayley en route to the finals.

Chelsea Green makes her return to Canada at LPW 4: Let’s Talk About Wrestling

The win marks the culmination of a whirlwind 2024 for Green, who has earned rave reviews since making her return to WWE. Green began her career training at the famed Storm Wrestling Academy in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In May 2014, Green debuted under the name Jaida for Vancouver’s Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling. After a stint on Tough Enough and years on the independents, Green signed with IMPACT Wrestling. While with IMPACT, Green eventually captured the promotion’s Knockouts Championship. After an appearance at the original All In, Green signed with WWE in 2018. A two-and-a-half-year stint with the promotion saw her align with Robert Stone, face off with the likes of Natalya, Io Shirai, and Rhea Ripley, and make her Monday Night RAW debut. Green, however, was unfortunately released by WWE in 2020. Her return to the independents saw Green make her return to IMPACT, as well as make her return to Canada at Love Pro Wrestling’s fourth event.

In 2023, Green made her return to WWE as part of the Royal Rumble. Green has since become a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, formed an alliance with Piper Niven, and faced off with Guilia in her debut appearance with WWE.
